Bro. Johnnie Dunn, our Minister of Music and Senior Adults/Pastoral Care, came to Westside in September, 2003. Bro. Johnnie is a Man of God with a heart for Worship. He and his wife of 41 years, Sandy, have three children. Bro. Johnnie's oldest son, Dustie and his wife Jenni serve the Lord as Pastor of Petal Harvey Baptist Church in Petal, Mississippi. Dustie and Jenni have three sons, Jax , John, and Jeb. His daughter, Jennifer lives in Bossier City. Louisiana. She has three children Jace, Stella and Elliot. Jessie, the youngest son of Bro. Johnnie and Sandy, serves on staff at Westside as Media Director.
Bro. Johnnie has served the Lord at several churches as Supply Music from 1976-1989 while working as a welder first self employed and then for Pennzoil Products in Shreveport. After taking his first time Bi-Vocational position in 1990 as worship leader at Mansfield Road Baptist Church and then Rosepark Baptist Church in Shreveport, God opened the door to allow him to be full time Music and Education at Ingleside Baptist Church in Shreveport La in 2000.
Bro. Johnnie studied music at Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana Baptist University. Johnnie also took classes from NOBTS at Broadmor Baptist in Shreveport La. He is a former member of the Foundation Singers, which represented the Louisiana Moral and Civic Foundation.
Bro. Johnnie leads our Sanctuary Choir as well as our Worship Team on a weekly basis. Bro. Johnnie Dunn says he feels very honored to lead Gods people each Sunday both in the traditional Service with our Choir, and in the Contemporary Service with our Worship team and Worship Band. "I believe with all my heart God equips those He calls. I am living Proof because, without Him I can do nothing. Come Worship With Us.
Quote from Johnnie;
"There are many in my life who have been an inspiration to me. Of course my parents have always given me support, Mom always doing what she could to support any of us kids in our endeavors. In high school, a music teacher named Judy Miller Meeks was my Choir Director who made it cool for football players to be in choir. That is where I really fell in love with the art of music. Of Course in college, Dr. Robert Ferrington, or as we all called him "Doc" was and is to this day one of the greatest men I've ever known. His concern and love for his students was paramount in his directing and leadership of His students. Most Importantly and yes you know I was going here, Thanks be to God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit for allowing me to do what I know thousands would like to do. And all this in spite of who I am. For I am a sinner saved by grace. Thank You Jesus. I Am A Child of The KING."
